Here are some highlights of Capiz that you simply can’t miss:

Roxas City

Roxas City, the capital of Capiz province, is renowned as the “Seafood Capital of the Philippines” due to its abundant marine resources. Visitors can savor a variety of fresh seafood, including oysters, crabs, scallops, and prawns. Beyond its culinary offerings, the city features attractions such as the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral and the scenic Baybay Beach.  

How to get there:

Roxas City is accessible by air, land, and sea. Daily flights from Manila to Roxas Airport take approximately 50 minutes. By land, travelers can take a bus from Iloilo City, with a journey time of about 2 hours. Sea travel from Manila to Roxas City takes around 18 hours.

Fees Summary

  • Airfare: Flights from Manila to Roxas City range from approximately PHP 1,500 to PHP 3,000 one way, depending on the airline and booking time.
  • Bus Fare: The bus fare from Iloilo City to Roxas City is around PHP 200–PHP 300.
  • Seafood Prices: Prices vary based on the type and market rates but are generally affordable due to the city’s rich marine resources.

Patio Beach, Ivisan, Capiz

According to the local folks, the area where Patio Beach is situated is used to be a burial ground during the Japanese era and even after the war since the barangay is far from the town they call the place as “Patio” which means cemetery hence the name. But as time has passed, people came to the place for picnics and outings especially during summer season.

How to get there:

If you are in the Roxas City proper

  • Just ride a tricycle to Ivisan Terminal (P10-15/pax)

From Ivisan terminal

  • Take the Jeepney going to Basiao Terminal for (P13/pax)

From Basiao terminal to Patio beach

  • You can take the Jeepney or Tricycle (P18-20/pax)

Just instruct the driver that you’ll stop by the Patio Beach

  • From the main road, you only need to go down the stairs.
    • Then, from there you will see the unspoiled beauty of Patio Beach.

Marugo Lake Resort, Tapaz, Capiz

Marugo Lake, located in Brgy. San Antonio, Tapaz, Capiz, is a serene destination with water sourced from the mountains of Tapaz, used by local farmers for irrigation. The lake has no rivers flowing in or out, adding to its uniqueness. Known as the summer capital of the municipality, it attracts visitors from nearby towns and even outside the province. The site offers various activities like kayaking, boating, jet skiing, and fishing, along with accommodations featuring air-conditioned rooms with terraces overlooking the picturesque lake.

How to Get there:

  • Marugo Lake is about a two-hour drive from Roxas City, the Provincial Capital of Capiz. From Brgy. San Julian, you’ll see signages on both sides of the road directing you to turn left toward Marugo Lake, which is 2.5 kilometers away.

Fees Summary:

  • Swimming Pool: P80 for children, P100 for adults
  • Air-Conditioned Rooms: P2,500 per day for 4 persons; extra P200 per person (up to 6 persons)

Activities:

  • Kayaking or Boating: P50 per hour
  • Jet Ski: Rates vary
  • Fishing: Rates vary
  • Floating Cottage: P700 for up to 15 people

Stationary Cottages:

  • P500 for 10 people
  • P1,000 for 20 people

Liktinon Falls, Roxas City, Capiz

Liktinon Falls, situated in Barangay Bayuyan, President Roxas, Capiz, is a captivating natural attraction renowned for its clear, cool waters and tranquil environment. The name “Liktinon” is derived from the Hiligaynon word “liktin,” meaning “to jump,” reflecting the adventurous trek required to reach the falls, which involves navigating over large boulders. The waterfall stands approximately 15 feet high, with a deep basin ideal for swimming and relaxation.

How to Get there:

  • To visit Liktinon Falls, begin your journey in Roxas City, the capital of Capiz. From there, travel to the town of President Roxas, which is about a 40-minute ride away. Upon reaching the town proper, proceed to Barangay Bayuyan, the jump-off point for the falls. The trek to Liktinon Falls typically takes between 20 to 30 minutes, depending on your pace. Be prepared for a moderately challenging hike that includes traversing forested paths and hopping over sizable rocks.

Fees Summary:

  • Entrance Fee: None.
  • Guide Fee: Approximately ₱200.00 (optional but recommended for first-time visitors).
  • Parking Fee: If you bring a vehicle, parking fees may apply, typically around ₱20.00 to ₱50.00, depending on local regulations.

It’s advisable to contact local authorities or tourism offices in advance to confirm current fees and any additional requirements. Remember to wear appropriate footwear for the trek, bring sufficient water, and practice Leave No Trace principles to help preserve the natural beauty of Liktinon Falls.

Sacred Heart of Jesus Shrine, Roxas City

The Sacred Heart of Jesus Shrine in Roxas City, Capiz, is a prominent religious landmark featuring a towering 132-foot statue of Jesus Christ, making it one of the tallest in the Philippines. Perched atop Tumandok Hill, approximately 360 feet above sea level, the shrine offers visitors panoramic views of Roxas City and its surrounding landscapes. This site serves as a place for spiritual reflection and attracts both pilgrims and tourists seeking its serene atmosphere and scenic vistas.

How to Get There:

  • The shrine is situated within Pueblo de Panay Township in Roxas City. From the city center, visitors can reach the site by taking a tricycle or private vehicle, with the journey typically lasting around 20 to 30 minutes. For those arriving from other regions, Roxas City is accessible via air travel through Roxas City Airport, followed by local transportation to the shrine.

Fees Summary:

  • Entrance Fee: There is no entrance fee to visit the Sacred Heart of Jesus Shrine; it is open to the public free of charge.
  • Parking Fee: While specific parking fees are not detailed in available sources, visitors should be prepared for potential minimal charges for vehicle parking.
  • Other Costs: Donations are welcomed to support the maintenance and upkeep of the shrine.

Suhot Cave, Dumalag, Capiz

Suhot Cave and Spring, located in Dumalag, Capiz, is a stunning natural attraction just 300 meters from the provincial highway. Known as one of the longest caves in the country, it boasts crystal-clear spring water flowing from the cave, perfect for swimming and relaxation. The resort offers cottages for rest and even features a mini-zoo showcasing various animals. Ideal for a summer getaway, Suhot Cave and Spring captivates visitors with its natural beauty, making it a perfect destination for families and loved ones.

How to Get There:

From Manila to Roxas City:

  • By Air: Approx. 1 hour; estimated round-trip cost: Php 3,500.
  • By Bus/RORO: Approx. 17 hours; estimated cost: Php 1,000 per person (air-conditioned bus and boat fare). 

From Roxas City to Suhot Spring:

  • Travel time: Approx. 45 minutes.
    • Located 300 meters from the provincial road. 

From Iloilo City to Suhot Spring:

  • Travel time: Approx. 2.5 hours. 
    • Take a bus from Tagbak Terminal in Iloilo City to Dumalag. 
    • From Dumalag, hire a tricycle to Suhot Cave and Natural Spring Resort in Barangay Dolores. 

Fees Summary :

Entrance Fees:

  • Adults: Php 20
    • Children (5-18 years old): Php 10 
  • Kids (below 5 years old): Free 

Cottage Rental:

  • Php 200 for a cottage (good for 4 people) 

Linimbo Falls, Dumarao, Capiz

Enjoy the cascading cold water and hike the instagramble view of the majestic Linimbo 13 Falls.

How to Get There:

  • From the town proper, you can ride a habal-habal to Sitio Embarkahan, Salcedo, Dumarao Capiz.
  • After arriving, 10-15 mins treking from the entrance to the majestic falls.
  • Entrance fee is 5 Pesos for Kids and 10 Pesos for adults.
  • Linimbo Falls have 13 falls in total.
  • If you want to see the peak of the falls, 15-30 mins hiking from falls 1-13.
